It is hard to read any of that precognition paper and not feel like social “science” is a complete joke. His possible explanations for the phenomenon (which was detected when subjects were asked to guess the position of erotic images, but not benign images), are:
1. Precognition or retroactive influence;
2. Clairvoyance/remote viewing;
3. Psychokinesis;
4. Artifactual correlation.
Paging Dr. Peter Venkman… I find choice number five most probable: psychology is not immune to poor statistical analysis and/or experimental design (and maybe dumb luck).
If this passes the smell test, what conclusion can’t be cooked up and published in a respected social science journal?
Although I could be wrong. There are some really strange phenomena in quantum physics which defied any possible conventional explanations and to me seem like magic.
