Yelena: It seems bizarre to claim that "nations are just like people in terms of a 'life cycle.'" This is obviously not necessarily true and you give no argument why anyone should believe the premise.

Figures/numbers would make the original post more compelling! Happy belated Thanksgiving.

Nobody can argue that by nature of its history and development, America is unique and exceptional. But the claim that this exceptionalism endows the nation with a certain unqualified advantage over others, fails to take the context of development into account.

America is a relatively new nation, and is in a different stage of development than say, England or Italy or China, etc. Nations, like people, experience various stages of development - they're born, develop, prosper, and decline. You attribute American prosperity solely to its unique characteristics. But in doing so, you're comparing an adolescent to a retiree. I don't dispute the substantive basis of your argument. That said, I think you're overlooking the fact that as the global climate shifts and America enters a stage of maturity and (hopefully not for a long time) decline, America's "blessed advantages" over other nations may start to dissipate, despite its unique history and development.
